Research On Adaptability Of The Bus Rapid Transit To Different Urban Road Networks

Our country is on the high development of urbanization, motorization and economy. The urban transportation is severely challenged by the problems such as the shortage of urban road, the development of motorization and private cars, and the rapid extend of urban land use scale.Influenced by the urban road condition and car impact, the benefits of Bus Transit investment became smaller and smaller, and the subway construction is a long process. However, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) has many advantages, such as less investment, short construction cycle, great capacity, rapid speed and little pollution. Therefore, it is of much significance to research the Bus rapid transit at present.The paper introduces the constitution of Bus Rapid Transit and its characteristics. And then it introduces both some domestic and foreign Bus Rapid Transit examples in the hope of providing useful experiences to our country. The paper also analyses some problems of domestic Bus Rapid Transit and comes to the conclusion of the solutions to those problems. It specially analyses the adaptability of the Bus Rapid Transit to different road networks. Also, the paper analyses the application form of the Bus Rapid Transit. At last, it does research on application of the Bus Rapid Transit in Xi'an.The paper has certain applicable value to domestic Bus Rapid Transit.
