Rotating machinery takes up the major part in all machinery equipments and plays an important role in industry enterprises. It is very important to ensure the running safety of rotating machinery for both enterprises and our society. Characteristics analysis plays an important role in faults find and diagnosis of rotating machinery. Order tracking is a very common method to analyze the response characteristics of rotating machinery to their rotating input. Time Variant Discrete Fourier Transform Order Tracking is a new order tracking. The TVDFT has the advantage of being very computationally efficient as well as the ability to reduce leakage errors. To enhance the capabilities of the TVDFT for tracking orders and to reduce the errors due to non-orthogonality of the kernels, an orthogonal compensation matrix (OCM) may be applied. Closely spaced and crossing orders can be analyzed more accurately as well.Firstly, it presented theory of digital signals processing. Then, it presented theory of order tracking and current order tracking techniques. These methods include the fast Fourier transform (FFT) and resampling based order tracking algorithms. At the same time, the principles, drawbacks, the advantages of these methods and the problems while using were compared and summarized. It was desired to develop a new order tracking method.Secondly, the time variant discrete Fourier transform (TVDFT) is developed as a new and alternative order tracking method. The TVDFT has the advantage of being very computationally efficient as well as the ability to minimize leakage errors, instead of resampling based order tracking algorithms. To enhance the capabilities of the TVDFT for tracking orders and to reduce the errors due to nonorthogonality of the kernels, an orthogonal compensation matrix (OCM) may be applied. Closely spaced and crossing orders can beanalyzed more accurately as well. Several examples are presented to show the effectiveness of the TVDFT in tracking orders.Finally, design projects of testing flat roof in and out of country were referenced at present, and took the virtual instrument into the design of the experiment flat. The virtual instrument experiment flat was built.
