As an indispensable part of the belt conveyor, belt conveyor take-up system is extremely essential to the smooth running and service life of the conveyor, especially for the large load, long distance conveyors. Therefore it is significant to deal with the characteristics of all kinds of traditional take-up systems and exploit a new style belt conveyor take-up system.The paper analyses some conventional take-up system, for example operate mode, principle of structure, relative merits and so on. Base on the design highlights, installation site, principle of design of take-up system, through scheme argumentation the paper presents electrohydraulic servo take-up system proposal,thereby better solves the drawbacks of formerly take-up system, for example irrealizable tension continuous control and so on. The new take-up system comes to a better tension control effect under outer load, prolongs service life of belt, also enhances work efficiency of belt conveyor. Direct towards intricacy behavior of take-up system, we apply the control strategies of robust H∞and robust PID in system, through comparison we select robust PID control algorithm as control strategy, which is opt to practical application.PLC control has become mostly direction of automatic control engineering region. Also PLC technology has used in different kinds of port machine in extensive use. In order to achieve the accordance work of belt conveyor, take-up system and other port machine, the paper also designs PLC control scheme towards new take-up system, appling PID control algorithm in this system, and do simulation research towards it with S7-PLCSIM.Thereby it settles foundation for the practical application of the take-up system.Then we proceed model experiment research, more prove the feasibility and practicability of control method, in order to assure, in actual operation,that the new take-up system realizes real time tension control towards belt conveyer, farthest guarantees equipment safe operation.
