In light of development of economic and society, traffic business improved in a high speed. Increase of traffic facilities and management measure provides more choices of route and more complexities. Using mature city signal communication technology and computer network technology in vehicle guidance has a great meaning in society and economic to improve traffic and city impression. In base of overview of research of vehicle route optimization in China and aboard, this paper takes research on vehicle route optimization methods using GPS/GIS data of probe car. Estimation of road resistance and alternative route optimization are the two key parts in this paper, which including a large number of history and real-time dynamic GPS/GIS traffic data, scaling road resistance by travel time, estimating road resistance by Kalman filter technology. The paper calculates a new route inferior to optimal route by alternative-route model after route optimizing. When there are peculiar affairs or a departure from scheduled route, we could update data and get new optimal route by alternative-route model to provide effective choices of vehicle route and information support for traffic management.
