The tank is regarded as the most important part of energy source system of lifeline system. In the petroleum industry and the chemistry industry, it is used widely, belonging to the fateful danger sources. The tank is the important device in oil transport system, in which the medium is flammabel and explosive, and pollutes easily environment around the tank. If the tank is broken, it will produce the economic loss and damage the ecosystem. The research to the reliability of the structure began in 1950s in our country. With the extension of employing time and the influence of environment, the employment of the tank is influenced , so the tank must be evaluated and maintained regularly. Moreover , with the efforts of a lot of experts and schalars, the theory about the structure's reliability and development fo application has made a great progress since in 1980s. At present, the reliability theory is uesed widely in the analysis of the strcuture, and is edited into the design criterion.Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the reliability of the tank after its foundation's settlement and deformation. The foudation's settlement has important influence on the tank.The main tasks of this paper are as follows:By adopting the finite element software, the process of the foundation's settlement is simulated, and then factors such as the coefficient of permeability, modulus of compression, days of the load, Poisson's ratio, and the pore pressure are analyzed.At the same time, when the soil is not consolidated, the process of the foundation's settlement is analyzed.And the tank floor deformation, the tank floor settlement, radial stress and circumferential stress of the tank floor are analyzed.The radial stress of the tank floor has the maximums near the sides of the floor and the center of the floor. But circumferential stress is not varied obviously.According to the settlement of the tank, the function of the tank is established. The reliability of the tank is calculated by the first-order second-moment method and the Monte Carlo method, and the results of the both methods are compared and analyzed.
