In the process of realization of whole natural phenomenon, especially physical phenomenon, there are some more profound, more general and more basic rules than physical laws. It is undoubted that the variational principle is one of them. The variational principle has important theoretical and directory value and applied cost as one of physical primary rules, and in electromagnetics.In the paper, the further investigation will be made for variational principles, especially some ones in electromagnetics. The fundamental purpose of this paper lies in making further studies for variation, especially some problems touching upon loss, in the relevant theoretical aspects of electromagnetics, at the same time including some applications of corresponding theories. The works in the paper consist of:1. The further investigation is made for the corresponding theoretics of the conservation of complex power technology (CCPT) in the electromagnetics.2. The variational principle considering discontinuities with loss is given through the analysis and comparisons for a good many electromagnetic discontinuities, and the application for designing hole-coupled lossy cavity resonator is made.3. Constrained refraction law is presented from the generalized Fermat' principle, by which a physical relationship of loss or perfect RHM and LHM is shown. The matrix optics is extended by using foregoing results and generalized sympletic coordinates.
