The sheet space structure system is a new type of space structure system composed of light-quality, high-strength sheets and thin wall metal skeleton by certain joining method, considering the joint effect of skeleton and sheets which cover the skeleton. By applying the aviation construction principle to the civil engineering, bringing direct stress into very thin sheet, sheet space structure system can make good use of materials and the construction bearing capacity. Compared to reticulated structure, it has more stability bearing capacity. So the sheet-space structure is a structure system which has good future.The failure of the sheet space structure system is buckling because of the membrane pressure in skeleton and sheets. So the method of imperfect stability analysis of this structure system is very complex, difficult, important and unsolved in design. The buckling mechanics, the buckling modal, factors of effecting buckling and nonlinear finite element technique are illuminated in this paper.The idea is borrowed from the consistent imperfect buckling analysis method that is used in the reticulated structure in order to analyze the sheet space structure system. The consistent imperfect buckling analysis method makes use of the first buckling modal to simulate the worst initial imperfection distribution. So the smallest stable bearing capacity is got. But the method is not suit for the sheet space structure system, so it is improved to be able to analyze the sheet space structure system. The improved consistent imperfect buckling analysis method is approved correct by experiments and important value to the design and construction of the sheet-space structure system.Besides these, the influences of load asymmetry and stay bearing are discussed in the paper. So some valuable conclusions are drawn. All these are beneficial to the researches and application of sheet-space structure system.
