In order to predict the electromagnetic environment of High Voltage Direct Current transmission lines and supported by the UHVDC project, the ionized field is calculated in this thesis. Adopted some improvement about the Upstream FEM, the program is developed. It operates smoothly with friendly interface. After calculating some examples, the validity is testified. Then a±800kV bipolar line is analysised when the height, the pole distance, the onset electric field and the wind velocity vary. On finished, the program is applied to choose suitable height and radius of a bus bar in converting plant. Several suggestions are proposed after calculation.
