Gleason spiral bevel gear, having a very wide application potential, are widely used in the transmission systems of aviation , spaceflight and engineering mechanical transmission systems, with much advantage, such as its high stability and bearing loads. However, the structure of gleason spiral bevel gear are very sophisticated, and design difficulties. To meet the needs of CAD/CAE/CAM, it is a very important practical significance that realizes gleason bevel gear's 3-D parametric modeling for follow-up works.Based on the software Unigraphics NX, this project makes use of UG secondary development languages offered by modules of UG/OPEN GRIP and UG/OPEN MenuScript, and then realizes 3-D parametric modeling of gleason spiral bevel gear.Firstly, starting with the establishment mathematical model of plane involute, mathematical model of the spur gear, helical gear and straight bevel gear, are established. It realizes gears 3-D parametric modeling.Secondly, on the study of the bevel gears meshing thoery, mathematical model are established, both of spherical involute and spiral bevel gear. It realizes the 3-D parametric modeling of spherical involute.At last, the 3-D parametric modeling of spiral bevel gear are completedThe system can not only save the time of designers from the heavy workload, but also improve design efficiency. At the same time, the project lays the foundation for CAE and CAM, and the proposed design method are useful to a certain extent for modeling other types of gear.
