This thesis is focus on the soil compaction effect due to pile installation by theoretical and numerical methods. Main tasks of the thesis are as follows:Firstly, base on critical state soil mechanics, theoretical solution of soil pore pressure, stress and displacement caused by undrained cylinderical cavity expansion is found with (modified) Cam-Clay model. Then, Results of single pile are used to determine the soil displacement caused by piles installation. The solutions are compared with those by FLAC and traditional method. We found that this method is more simple, convenient and exact. Secondly, the three-dimensional finite-difference computer codesFLAC is employed to simulate the pile installation by using the experimental soil parameters.
