| With the development of economy and urbanization, more buildings are constructed towards the underground to overcome the limitation of city land resource.The problems caused by buoyancy appear due to the increasing depth of underground structures. Moderate buoyancy could be used as favorable load, while an excessive depth of underground water table will cause hazard. Although the problem of buoyancy has been involved in the correlative national codes, no agreement on the calculation of buoyancy has been arrived. It is necessary to study this problem further for the anti-floating design of underground structures.This paper studies the buoyancy characters of underground water and the anti-floating design of structures.
