With the progress of the pneumatic membrane's technology and the use of new membrane material—ETFE,people have interests in the pneumatic membrane structure again. The pneumatic membrane gradually has a wide application in actual projects.Nowadays the software professionally for the pneumatic membrane analysis and design is rare. Meanwhile people's comprehension and the methods of research and design for pneumatic membrane structures are outdated, these all prevent the development of the updated pneumatic membrane. Based on these, the thesis compiles the program for form finding and static analysis and carries out the whole process analysis for the pneumatic membrane and gets some valuable conclusions and rules for pneumatic membrane structures. Through these researches, author wishes to instruct the actual projects design.The thesis first analyzes the most important factor—air pressure during the process of form finding and compare the difference between the pneumatic membrane and tensioned membrane. Then a method of form finding for the pneumatic membrane is proposed. According to this method, a program is compiled to simulate the process of form finding.
