This thesis used DELPHIN designed by University of Technology Dresden to simulate the circumstance, which was based on the study about heat and moisture transport in the construction of building external walls at home and abroad, researched the heat and moisture transport in several kinds of external walls in four typical areas, Harbin, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, not only the old brick walls, but also the new external insulation finishing walls. This thesis concluded how long the hygrothermal status needs to be steady, and the heat transfer coefficients and water contents were also researched in the steady status. It compared the heat transfer coefficients in the steady status, the beginning status and the designed value. Thermal performance of the building external walls was also evaluated.By analyzing the water contents of insulations in new external insulation finishing walls after constructed, this thesis concluded the regularity of insulations affected by damp in different external insulation finishing walls in different typical areas and gave some suggestions on the choice of supporting structure and some matters need attention during and after the construction period. In addition, considering the present software cannot do the three-dimension numerical simulation of heat and moisture transport in the constructions, the feasibility of reducing multi-dimension calculation to one-dimension calculation was also studied in this dissertation.
