| Reconfigurable Manufacturing System (RMS) is a system that can suit the changing market requirement rapidly, as the top one of ten key technologies in future manufacturing, it is a new type of manufacturing system that can adjust its function and capability by the way of reconfiguration. This dissertation is supported by the key science-technology project of Shanghai " Tenth Five-Year-Plan" project (Grant No.031111002) . The configuration model and its realization techniques of RMS is studied in this dissertation. The main contents are as follows:Firstly, the importance and challenge of manufacturing industry are presented. The generation and significance of RMS are discussed and the literature view of RMS is summarized. The main contents of the thesis are given. The basic concepts of RMS are explained, such as definition, terminologies, characters, system structure and key technologies. The performance analysis and evaluation of RMS is also discussed.Secondly, the design target and principle of configuration model is studied based on the analysis of configuration process. After that, a configuration model which has closed loop structure is given containing design, drive and monitoring portions. And then, two key problems of configuration model are discussed:â‘ the problem of configuration plan is divided into two hierarchies. They are plan problems during the total lifecycle and plan problems during certain configuration production period. The plan problem is like decision-making, so based on the graph theory, the graph modes for the two hierarchies are proposed. Dijkstra algorithm or double-oriented scanning algorithm is used to calculate the best decision or K best decisions. The solution of the plan problems during certain configuration production period provides the graph nodes for plan problems during the total lifecycle or several production periods. And the best decision or K best decisions are worked out. Then the feasibilities of the modes, algorithms and methods are proved by the example finally, â‘¡the basic problem of RMS configuration platform is studied based on configuration principle.
