In view of climate impacts, an air source heat pump system (ASHPS) was set up, which provided space heating and cooling, as well as hot water for an office building in Tianjin. Heating experiments were carried out to study the feasibility of its massive replacement for conventional energy due to the air pollution and energy shortage causing by fired coal.First, some experiments for space heating and hot-water production in heating season were took, with the results of water inlet and outlet temperatures, outdoor and indoor temperatures, relative humidity and energy combustion under different operation modes. According to these data, the impacts of climate conditions and heating rate on the performance of ASHPS were anlyzied. And the defrosting parameters and the technical feasibility were studied for a constant heating demand. The experimental results indicate that ASHPS is a viable technology in Tianjin in winter.Considering the climate characteristics in Tianjin and the way to provide energy in an office building, a simulation study on the combisystem of ASHP and solar collector were introduced based on the experiments. The effects of collector area and its outlet paramerters on the heating performance of ASHP were studied, and the favourable operating and matching mode were recommended. The results indicate that heating by only ASHP isn't an economic way in Tianjin. In order to improve its operation performance and economic viability, the solar-asisted combisystem should be taken into account according to the abundant solar radiation in Tianjin.
