As one of the most important parts of the micro-satellite, the power system directly impacts the performance and life-span of the whole satellite. Two Micro-satellites developed by Tsinghua Space center named of"Tsinghua -1"and"Nano-satellites-1", both have some problems on the power system. The most important one is the absence of control function, so it is impossible to control the battery current and voltage, though the abnormalities in the battery pack are detected. This problem depresses the battery performance and reduces the power system's life-span, so a resolution is imperative.Applying the information technology on the micro-satellite can contribute to solving these problems and an intelligent charging circuit with good performance is developed. It can sample the real-time data of battery voltage, current, temperature and control the charging current by micro computer unit (MCU). It can communicate with the upper computer by serial interface, which provides the possibility of ground detecting and controlling. The experiment proves its low-dissipation, high-efficiency and good intelligence.On the base of the intelligent charging circuit, a general battery charger for common commercial use is easily developed. With the supplement of client software, it adopts for all kinds of batteries, and effectively applies in normal life.The lithium-ion battery has been widely used for its good performance and it is expected to be applied on the micro-satellite. The intelligent battery charger provides the application of lithium battery. Besides, we attempt many methods to improve the battery charging performance and prolong its life-span. All kinds of the lithium-ion battery charging methods are summarized and a new charging tragedy is advanced, which can shorten the charging time.
