Research On The Utilization Of GBFS Powder In Cement Production

Granulated blast furnace slag has been used in cement industry for over a century. The granulated blast furnac granulated blast furnace slag was ground with clinker and gypsum in traditional finish grinding process, however, the potential pozzuolana activity is difficult to bring into play in concrete, due to its poor grindablity. And the quantity and effect of granulated blast furnacslag used in concrete project were also restricted. Since 1950s, slag powder has been blended into cement and concrete in some foreign countries. In china, success samples has also been achieved in shanghai. In this paper, how to obtain the optimum effect in using granulated blast furnace slag powder from TSIC slag, in cement producing were researched. And the results show that:When granulated blast furnace slag was ground to with specific surface area of about 450 m~2/kg, the activity is significantly developed, and the blend ratio is able up to 20%. Compared with ordinary Portland cement, the 3-day strength of slag cement is the same, but the 28-day strength is 10 MPa higher.The blend ratio of slag powder in cement production is more than that in cement grinding.The data of particle size and strength is much better, however, the water usage for standard denseness is increased. In order to maintain rhelogy property of concrete using cement, it is necessary that different plants take strict control based on different features in the chemical contents of raw material, fuel, and product, the type of kiln systems and the calcining of clinker. A series of test to adjusting the ratio of lime , gypsum, and other mixture is needed in order to obtain a optimum condition.The physical properties of granulated blast furnace slag powder is changed obviously when slag is ground. The finishability and pozzuolana activity were gained. So that the ratio of slag is greatly increase, and the ratio of clinker is decrease relatively, and also the heat of hydration is decrease, and it is possible to produce low thermal slag cement. Thiskind of cement was successfully used in a project of the base of 1650m~3 blast furnace inTSIC.The using of granulated blast furnace slag powder in cement, decreases the usage ofclinker, and increases the profit of producer.
