vehicle handling evaluation method can be divided into subjective evaluation and objective evaluation. Subjective evaluation is useful for tuning automobile performance and becoming suitable for people, and it is the final rule when verifying the handling performance of vehicle during the design and development of automobile. But subjective evaluation test is very complex and need a lot of energy, time, persons and so on. Contrarily, simulation does not need so much attributed to the development of the computer technique and vehicle model. But even if we can simulate the test easily, we still have not an acknowledged and uniform method system to quantify the performance. Dealing with these problem, this article searches for an objective evaluation method to quantifiable handling performance of vehicle basing on exploring the relation of subjective ratings and objective metric.Research shows in most cases, the relationship between subjective and objective evaluation of handling performance of vehicle can be described by the linear regression model. Linear regression is kind of regression analysis. The main target of regression analysis is to find the statistical relationship of objective variables. It is based on a lot of experiments and observations of objective things, a statistical method finding the hiding statistical regularity of seeming uncertainty phenomenon, explaining interdependence between a variable and one or more variables, and estimating or forecasting the influence of the explanatory variable to dependent variables. It is an effective tool by establish of statistical model to find the structure state, prediction model and the close of the relationship.First of all.based on the existing national standards, using 12 vehicle of 29 degrees of freedom model vehicles simulate pylon course slalom test, steering wheel angle step input test, steering wheel angle pulse input test, .steering efforts test procedure and the steady-state circular driving behavior test, then calculate the value of objective indicators. 9 drivers evaluate the subjective evaluation of 12 vehicles. The values of objective indicators are the variables regression analysis and the subjective ratings are the dependent variables. Applying SPSS to estimate and test regression analysis model parameters. Draw a conclusion of the multiple linear regression equation, and establishing the link between the two.
