The vehicle suspension system is a connecting device, which transmit various force and moment between body and tire. The vehicle suspension system are mainly consisted of spring components, damper components and orientation machine. The three parts respectively performs the functions of cushion damping and orientation, and cooperate with each other to finish the task that transfers all kinds of forces and torques from tires to vehicle body. As this kind of equipment the transferring characteristics of the suspension system is the most important and direct factors that influence the vehicle ride performance and handling performance.Studying the multi-link suspension aims to receive better ride performance, in the premise ensuring a high level of handling stability. Multi-link suspension through various link distribution and constraints angle design of the connecting points with the movement, makes it possible that when suspension contracts it will take the initiative to adjust the wheel alignment, but also the great design freedom, and it is completely possible for the match and adjust against models. Therefore, the multi-link suspension can access to the greatest degree of vehicle handing performance, and better ride performance.Automotive suspension research includes two areas. One is suspension system dynamics which mainly study the spring and damper characteristics, another is suspension system kinematics which mainly studies the orientation machine characteristics. When considering the influences of the elasticity joint components the suspension system kinematics is called suspension system kinematics and elasticity kinematics. This article is specially to study the evaluation parameters and testing method for the kinematics and elasticity kinematics characteristics of vehicle independent suspension system.Firstly, According to a car's suspension system and the vehicle structure and related data, the multi-link suspension system and steering system's simulation models are built by utilizing ADAMS/CAR software. To comparative analysis, by using the Macpherson front and composite rear suspension system and the vehicle data provided by previous project, the McPherson front suspension and composite rear suspension system's simulation models are also built by utilizing ADAMS/CAR software.Secondly, in this paper, the characteristics about kinematics and compliance of suspension are briefly introduced, and the suspension's influence on the vehicle performance also is introduced. The evaluation on the suspension includes two parts: kinematics and dynamics. The suspension kinematics and elasticity kinematics are primarily introduced in this paper, but also some factors and parameters what have impact on vehicle handing stability, and those parameters'changes trends and scope. The methods for the analysis on suspension kinematics and elasticity kinematics include: simulation analysis methods and test-bed testing methods. Immediately, the simulation and test methods about suspension kinematics which include wheel jump and vehicle body roll is described, so do the simulation and test methods about suspension elasticity kinematics including Applied load. In the end test-bed testing methods is briefly introduced. At last, by using ADAMS/CAR software, the left and right wheel parallel jump suspension kinematics simulation test on multi-link front and rear suspensions,Macpherson strut front suspension and composite rear suspension, is completed. At the same time, the simulation about suspension elasticity kinematics which composite of three applied load, longitudinal force, lateral force and aligning torque is finished successfully. To evaluate the two vehicle suspension kinematics and elasticity kinematics characteristics, all kinds of curves are plotted with ADAMS/CAR postprocessor platform, meanwhile their characteristics is analyzed and compared. At last the multi-link independent suspension's more merits is summarized.
