Study On The The Applicability Of VISSIM Traffic Simulation

With the development of modern science technology and the limitation of land resource, countries from all over the world have changed their solution for continually increasing traffic demand from enlarge the network scale to reform existing roadway traffic system and its manage system by advanced technology, thus improve the transportation network capacity and the quality of service. Traffic modeling studying and simulation-evaluation is proposed under the demand of urban traffic control in the new situation. By simulating the current traffic conditions, it can properly evaluate current level of service. At the same time, it can work as a proof for choosing optimum plan by comparing with different traffic solutions.At present, foreign simulation models are used widely because of the lack of mature simulation models in China. But the applicability of foreign simulation models is a problem without related research. This paper atempts to have some contribution on it .Aiming at the problem,being one representative and widely used microscopic traffic simulation models, the applicability of VISSIM is studied in this paper.First of all, previous studies on traffic simulation are reviewed and both advantages and defected of each result are analyzed. The meaning of the sduty on applicability of traffic simulationg model are provided in this paper.Secondly, this paper analyzes the feature of the VISSIM and classified its parameters. Thirdly, this paper studies the test and calibration of the simulation model.By analyzes the behavior of the car on the road, combine with the principle of the priority rules in VISSIM,it provide a series of the setting of priority. It emphasizes the Priority Rules, the Saturation Flow Rate and Calibration of the parameters.Fourthly,this paper have a detail study of the featrues of the car.Using GPS device, large numbers of field data were collected for study.By VS-ANALYS software and VS-GPS, the model are calibrated.
