Because of the rapid development of economy, the modernization progress has influence this "ideal kingdom" deeply in Shangri-la, The conflict has appeared between traditional architecture form and modern life style. The extremely characteristic wooden architecture in the region which is made of soil and wood is replacing by urban building which is made of "concrete structure". At the same time, since the section is underdeveloped, especially in aspect of culture, technology and economy ,which the construction of traditional dwellings not only destructed local resource but also cannot create better living surrounding. How can the traditional wooden architecture inherit its character and improved its unreasonable factors by the renovation process and being in harmony the modern life style? We try to resolve discuss in the paper.This paper takes the Shangri-la wooden architecture as research object. Learn from the other wooden architectures experiences from all over the world , under the instruction of the sustainable development idea, the paper intends to pose some practical suggestion and imagine.The dissertation is divided into six parts: the first chapter is introduction part; the second chapter focus on the development progress of wooden architecture in Shangri-la; the third chapter analysis the characteristic wooden architectures at home and abroad; the fourth chapter analysis some excellent works designed by three famous architect with method of theory connected with practice; the fifth chapter put forword a kind of new wooden architecture in Shangri-la; the sixth chapter is the end, making a summary of the paper, expecting Shangri-la wooden architecture to be keep its character and reasonable renovation.
