The rigid-pile composite foundation is a foundation composed of higher rigid concrete pile or CFG pile. Cushions are used between the piles and the bottom of the foundation,which can adjust load distribution between the piles and the soils.However,compared with the shallow foundation and the pile foundation ,research on the rigid-pile composite foundation is inadequate,especially,its calculation method of settlement.This Article makes a comparison and analysis about three calculation methods of settlement for the rigid-pile composit foundation through an actual engineering case.The writer points out the characteristics of the three calculation methods.It is suggested that the CFG-pile method conforms to reality to calculate the settlement of the rigid-pile composit foundation if the strength of the soil is enough at the bottom of the pile.Futhermore,in this paper,the working mechanism of the rigid-pile composite foundation is analyzes with the finite element method influenced by the thichness and modulus of cushion.Moreover,taking an engineering case ,the writer analyzes the working mechanism of the rigid-pile composite foundation when the geosyntheties are placed in the cushion.The result of finite element calculation indicate that the bearing capacity of composite foundation soil increases while the settlement decreases,and that the settlement of the composite foundation is more even. This result will provide evidence for the optimal design.
