Cable-stayed bridge is a widely used bridge system in modern traffic projects. With the development of design theory, calculation method, material technology, construction method and construction equipment, the length of cable stayed bridge span is getting larger and larger. The main span of Sutong Bridge is 1088m, and the total length of main bridge steel girder is 2088m. Flat girder of big cable-stayed bridge has very large axial force. The girder panel is kind of complex orthotropic plate. The stress and failure mechanics of such panel is different from ordinary steel girder bridges. Thus, the election of design bearing capacity and fatigue performance of panel welding give influence to the panel's working performance. Nowadays domestic projects pay more and more attention to it.This article is about the stress feature of large span cable-stayed bridge slender steel girder of Sutong Bridge, it describes ultimate bearing capacity local model testing research of orthotropic steel deck and panel fatigue testing research. This article provides basic information for Sutong bridge design and welding technique feasibility. Furthermore, it can also be a reference for similar project design and testing research.
