Construction Technology Research On Deep Foundation Pit Of Henglong Plaza

The construction technique of foundation pit is an essential part of the whole building construction technique. A foundation pit of good quality is the most solid foundation of the whole building. With the fast development of construction technique, more and more high-rise buildings have been built and will be built. The foundation pit projects are inevitably growing and expanding both in scale and technique complex. According to an recent statistic, the amount of the deep foundation pit projects over the past 20 years has made China the country of not only having most deep foundation pit projects, but also the most complete monitory database in the world. At the meantime, the construction technique has been dramatically improved in China.Plaza 66 in Shanghai is a large high-rise building of reinforced concrete structure that is very rare within the country. The foundation pit is also very large with complex structure. The area of the foundation pit in total is 25,000 sqm and the maximum depth is 18.2m. It was a challenger for a lot of technical professionals since several new construction techniques were the first time adopted and applied. The article is taking the references of the design and construction of the retaining wall and bracing system, the concrete casting and temperature control curing of the foundation mat, as well as the monitoring system of Plaza 66 project, to analyze those key elements critical to the construction progress at different construction stage through collecting and studying the different construction plans, designs and monitoring records. Furthermore, a summary of effective methods and correction actions during deep foundation pit construction is also included in this article. Hopefully, it can be of some help as a reference for any possible similar buildings in future.The article is ended with a brief introduction of an assumption of the technique development of foundation pit construction in future.
