Based on the theory of rough surfaces scattering, the multipath effect, the second- order Kirchhoff approximation as well as the Monte Carlo method for rough surface scattering with considering shadowing effects are investigated. The models of multipath scattering are presented and the formulae for monostatic and bistatic scattering coefficients are derived, respectively. The angular distribution of scattering coefficients from the rough surfaces with different spectrums are analyzed for different models of multipath scattering , and numerical results show good agreement with the experimental data. The first and second-order incoherent scattering coefficients from 1D and 2D rough dielectric surfaces are obtained by using Kirchhoff approximation with consideration of the shadowing effect. Meanwhile the numerical simulations and discussions are given. Finally, the electromagnetic scattering from 1D Gauss rough surfaces with considering shadowing effect is also examined by applying the Monte Carlo method, the comparison of the scattering coefficients for the single reflection and double reflection are presented and discussed in detail.
