It has been over 20 years since the rising of technology on RCC (Roller Compacted Concrete) Dam at early 1980s in China. Its features on "rapid, economical, efficient" performance testified on dozens of built and being built RCC dams has proved that the fully developed technology and workmanship on RCC dam has being in the front rank of the world. The Zhaolaihe Dam, designed as the double curvature arch RCC high dam of variable curvature with full cross section of logarithmic spiral, is the thinnest double curvature arch RCC dam built among the hundred heights in the world at present. Here this paper is concentrated on the research and exploration on the rapid construction technology on the Dam in Zhaolaihe, especially mainly on the research of key technology on contracted lift formwork with both adjustable ends matching with the curvature surface. With the application on this technology, a set of the above formwork can be dismantled and installed within 15 minutes; at the same time, the software suited for the measurement on the double curvature arch RCC dam with variable curvatures and rapid-detection on dam form during construction has been researched, which can detect the formwork deviations within seconds; and the technology on the transportation of semi-manufactured aggregates with high drops, new method on the forming of drainage holes for dam body and RCC construction by layers at slopes has been concentrated as well. These technologies have been applied in the construction work of RCC dam, which created favourable conditions for the rapid performance, and assured the construction quality with the fulfillment continuous and rapid placement as well. The maximum uprising height of the dam monthly is 27.3m, which has broke the world record in rapid dam construction and fully carried out the new policy of "less investment, rapid construction and earlier service" for RCC Dam as well, and these technologies can provide beneficial and useful experiences for the dam construction of the same kind in future.
