The phylogeny and the tendency of the prestressed structures are analysed in this paper, and the function and status of prestressed cables are also immulated, the classification performance and state-of arts of prestressed cables are summarized and the importance of the research for linear expansion factor of the cables is proposed in this paper. Cable-stayed theoretical calculations of static and the methodology for determining reasonable cable dead loading of cable-stayed bridge and the methodology for determining the nonlinear effects of cable-stayed have been further analysed. And the main method(cable law and base displacement law) for imposing prestress on the structure by using cables have been summarized.Four different types of cables: 3-9.3mm wire rope and wire rope,spiral strand , parallel wire strand which are used in the engineering are divided into ten groups. And their linear expansion factor have been tested and analysed with the new type cable linear expansion factor testing device——testing equipment of expansion factor of cable element by method of water heating which has been manufactured in this paper. And the linear expansion factor of the four types cables have been gotten, so they can be the reference for the analysis in scopes of research, teaching, design and engineering applications.The prestress, deforming of main beam of cable-stayed bridge and the cable-stayed nonlinear which under the influence of temperature changes have been researched with the cable-stayed structures case study: cable-stayed bridge and hanging structure by adopting the tested cable linear expansion factor and the pure steel linear expansion factor. The influence to prestress and the mechanical property of main beam under the temperature changes in whole hanging structures and the difference of under the two linear expansion factors'influence also have been analysed in this paper.The cables prestress of pure rigid structures and cables nonlinear performance, and flexibility deformation of the main beams ,and cables prestress in hanging overall steel structures are obviously influenced by linear expansion property of cable-stayed...
