Bolted flanged connections are the most commonly used in petrochemical equipment and piping system. With the rapid development of modern industry and technology, the requirement of the sealing performances of bolted flanged connections is more and more rigorous. It becomes an imperative project to improve the tightness of bolted flanged connections at elevated temperature in process industry. The elastic washers can be used in bolted flanged connections to compensate the creep deformation and relaxation of the gaskets, bolts and flanges, and it is an effective method to improve the tightness of bolted flanged connections. In this paper, based on the tightness analysis method of bolted flanged connections at elevated temperature, the optimum design technique and the manufacturing technology of the elastic washers used in bolted flanged connections were developed. The research results are helpful to solving the leakage problem of the sealing connections of hazardous media at elevated temperature. The main research contents and results are summarized as follows:(1)Material mechanical performance and the compressive and resilient properties of the elastic washers were investigated experimentally. The compressive and resilient properties of the elastic washers under axial load were also researched by finite element method (FEM), and the effects of geometric parameters and the operation temperature on the load-deformation characteristic of the elastic washers were analyzed. The results of FEM are coincided with the experimental data perfectly, which indicates that the FEM model can be used to analyze the mechanical behavior of the elastic washers satisfactorily.(2)According to the load-deformation formula of the disk spring, the equations which describe compressive and resilient properties of the elastic washers were fitted by regression analysis on the basis of the data calculated by FEM. The results calculated using the equations agree well with the experimental data, and can be applied to the tightness analysis of the bolted flanged connections with elastic...
