With the development of electric industry, the environmental problems related to the direct discharge cooling water of power plant into the ambient waters become more and more serious. Despite of environmental thermal pollution, heated drainage also causes the temperature risen of intake water. Deeper water discharge is an effective technique to get pollutants fully mixed with the ambient waters so as to reduce the extent of heated water surface temperature field. However, this method is different from the tradition ways of discharge at water surface. The diffusion and dilution characteristics of deeper water layer should be emphasized in order to ensure the validity of the way to discharge the cooling water. The conditions of deeper emission of power plant cooling water are complex with so much issue involved. From the aspect of environmental water area, it is included static ambient and dynamic ambient condition, and the latter include the unidirectional flow and reciprocating flow. For the style of the outlet it involves single orifice and multi-ply orifices, and the characteristics are affected by some factors such as the scale of outfall, the direction of discharge and the space of each orifice. Based on the former research tests, physical examination is carried out in this thesis and the main point is to study the flow conditions and the temperature distribution field of vertical jet flow with single orifice under the condition of static and dynamic ambient respectively. The test results of the three dimensional flow condition and temperature field of deeper water discharge can be used as scientific basis for planning of the similar outfall of power plant. The maximum penetration, velocity and density (or temperature) on the section are analyzed, and useful diluting formula is derived from data process in the thesis. A method to estimate the...
