Study On The Organization Method Of Cyclist Traffic At Signalized Intersection

Intersections are joints of urban road network, so traffic organization of intersections plays an important role in resolving the increasing urban traffic pressure. Now, the mixed traffic flow of bicycles and vehicles is one of the important reasons which result in traffic congestion at intersections. At signalized intersections, because bicycles have rapid toggle speed, instability and dispensibility, the bicycles and the vehicles not only have the cross impact, but also have great influence when they travel in the same direction. So, traffic organization of bicycles is the emphasis of resolving traffic congestion at the intersections.This paper researches on urban signalized intersections. On the basis of analyzing existing research outcomes, it starts from the traffic characteristic of bicycles which influence the vehicles at intersection, and uses dynamics theory, mathematical statistics, and deduction methods etc to research on traffic organization method of bicycle at intersections. It aims at grasping the running features of mixed traffic flow at intersections, discovering the significance of bicycles influencing vehicles at intersections, improving the scientific design and organization and management of intersections, supplying theoretical and practical support for resolving the traffic congestion which is brought by mixed traffic flow, and supplying design basis for intersections'signal dispensation parameters.First, this paper introduces the cyclist traffic characteristic influencing vehicles, analyzes the influence mechanics, and presents the data collection method and management method which consider the bicycles influencing vehicles. On this basis, using mathematical statistics method, the vehicles'saturation volume and the bicycles'flow rate of two-phase intersection, multi-phase intersection, intersections with or without partition between vehicles and bicycles are analyzed in the aspect of correlation.
