With people's attention to the health risk of chlorination Disinfection By-Products, DBPs in chlorinated drinking water is a hot issue in water supply field today. Taking urban distribution system as study object, and quality safety of potable water as the purpose, the paper worked systemicly and profoundly on formation rule and control of DBPs in water distribution system.Based on the demand of research, experimental schemes of static bulk water, static pipe wall and dynamic distribution simulated system were established; and based on local water and climate condition, Uniform Formation Conditions test method of determining THMs formation quantity was established. From test results, formation mechanism of THMs was analysed at the kinetics angle, and reaction order of THMs formation was determined. The paper analysed the influence of factors to THMs formation, which supplied theory basis for building water quality model of THMs in water supply network. And these factors are precursor organic substance, chlorine dosage, concentration of bromine ion, temperature, pH, ammonia nitrogen, pipe materials and hydraulic conditions.According to water supply network structure characters and drinking water quality condition of Harbin, the test schemes of on-line water quality monitor was established, and water samples of six monitoring points in sampling path were tested in the study. Great deals of water quality basic information were obtained for setting up THMs model. The results of water quality measurement indicated that water quality of water supply system met the standard of drinking water quality as a whole. But some water quality indexes, such as turbidity and free residual chlorine of separate sampling points presented overproof status. The connection between THMs change and water quality in water supply network was analysed in the paper.Water quality models of THMs in water distribution system were built in this research by multivariate regression method and artificial neural networks method, respectively. During the modeling process, SPSS software was adopted to analyse data and solve the multivariate linear regression model. Then the model was optimized to improve its quality.
