To reduce the electricity consumption of coal grinding is the focus of air and powder system's improvement in power plant. Theoretical deduction and experience had shown that by increasing the mill level in ball mill, the electricity consumption could be reduced. Due to the fact that the mill level can be not measured through direct method, other indirect method should be used to get the mill level. Calculating the vibration signal given from the mill was proved to be an essential element to measure the ball mill's level.Measuring the ball mill's bear vibration and developing an meter by the vibration given from the mill's bearing were the main topics of this thesis, which had two parts: Firstly, the theory of measuring bear's vibration energy by vibration signal. The feasibility of vibration energy measurement by vibration signal and different ways to improve the system's efficiency are included in this part. The thesis discussed the possibility of extracting more information from vibration signal by the used of neural network and primary component analysis (PCA). Moreover, the accelerometer's type and installation was discussed later. Secondly, an instrument was developed with the help of digital signal processor from TI. The instrument had separate sampling, processing, display and communication unit, which safeguard its application in the field.
