The value of reactor period characterizes neutron multiplication rate in reactors, which, if too small, can lead to disastrous effects, making the reactor out of control. Therefore, accurate measurements is vitally important. An instrument of reactor period inspection is developed, which has considered the state-of-art home and abroad. Problems relevant to the developing of reactor period measurement equipments based on the DSP chip TMS320F 2812 are , investigated in this dissertation. At first, the dissertation analyzes the measurement principle, implementation and problems of several period measurement equipments design. Based on the aforementioned, a new technique to measure reactor period is promoted , which is based on the DSP technique , high precision A/D converter to sample the reactor power signal and least-squares-fitting method .Then, after an analysis of the requirements for system control and signal processing, the systematic design is promoted, in which TMS320F2812 chip is chosen as the Central Processing /Controlling unit and software design is based on DSP/BIOS embedded operating system. The strong information processing capability and real-time control both in and out of chip of the TMS320F2812 is used to sample, make data processing, saving, displaying and typing. Finally, techniques of anti-Interference as well as system debugging are presented. Testing of both a simulation of the lab environment and an experiment shows that, as expected, the new TMS320F2812 based reactor period inspection equipment has excellent anti-Interference capacity , high precision and fast response time, all of which prove that it has good prospective.
