The lower-speed permanent magnet synchronous traction machine of the lift is made up of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), brake, traction pulley and absolute position encoder. The exact information of the rotor position of the PMSM is a pre-request for the driving control system. According to the presence or not of the absolute position encoder, the driving control system can be divided into two methods: one is the sensor method and another is the sensor-less method. At present, the lift driving control system generally adopts the first method, the initial rotor position is detected on turning-free (no load on the traction pulley), and the rotor position is recorded by an absolute position encoder.Whereas this research adopts the sensor-less method, the initial rotor position is detected while the rotor is at still. Considering the small saliency caused by the saturation of the stator iron, the proposed algorithm calculates the standstill rotor position and the direction of magnetization by injecting high frequency current to the stator of the machine. Meanwhile, the theory on tracking and checking the rotor position by an incremental encoder is discussed. Because there is no need to remove the traction ropes or put the...
