In order to reduce the pressure of water hammer and improve the stability and quality of power supply, the surge chamber began to be applied in the end of the pressure diversion system of water and electricity station. In the recent years, with the fast development of the water and electricity station in China, large long corridor of surge camber has been applied more and more abroad to meet the structure collocation and circulate conditions. Because of the complicated structure form, large section dimension and complex geologic conditions, the surrounding rock stability problems of the long corridor surge chamber during construction and safety problems of the long corridor surge chamber during circulation are outstanding.Long corridor surge camber, which belongs to underground structure engineering category, is buried in the rock deeply. There are two methods to analyse the underground engineering surrounding rock stability mainly. The one is the traditional structural mechanics method, and the other is the finite element method. Reference to the complex geologic conditions and complex structure of the long corridor surge camber, the traditional structural mechanics method can not meet the design need, while FEM, which has adaptability of complex geometry structure and the credibility of the calculate result, has been applied in the calculation of long corridor surge camber more and more comprehensive.The surge camber of Sichuan LiuPing, Ganxipo, Kaijianqiao and Jiansheba water and electricity station is long corridor, their samenesses are as follows: the geologic conditions of surrounding rock is poor, the surrounding rock mainly belongs toâ…£or V type and the structure of the surge chamber dimension is very large.
