In this paper, a type of numerical model is established for the calculation of ocean circulation. The new model is used to analyze the circulation characteristics of Jiaozhou Bay. This study is leaded by POM model, based on"3D ocean non-stationary baroclinic model", which is proposed by Russian scientist and developed by considering sea ice in the model.Firstly, the numerical model of ocean water dynamic characteristics is introduced.Secondly, the"3D ocean non-stationary baroclinic model"is proposed. This section includes initial equations, boundary conditions, primitive equations transformation, sea level change formula, the current distribution formula along the vertical direction, vertical turbulence exchange coefficient formula, and the formula heat conduction equation.Thirdly, the new model is used to to analyze the circulation characteristics of Jiaozhou Bay, including characteristics of wind-driven current and its induced sea level change without the consideration of tidal conditions, characteristics of wind-driven current and its induced sea level change considering turbulence coefficient change induced by tidal conditions, characteristics of tidal propagation, and the seasonal change process characteristics of sea temperature. In this study,"3D ocean non-stationary baroclinic model"is used on the analysis of circulation characteristics of Jiaozhou Bay for the first time. According to the geographical features and topographic measurement features, the adequate boundary conditions are set. The initial tidal propagation conditions are also obtained by the observed data. Then the circulation characteristics of Jiaozhou Bay are calculated.
