The cable winding transformer, a new kind of dry power transformer being useful for high voltage and having large capacity and high environmental protection, is an associative product of the high tension XLPE cable technology and the traditional transformer technology. It can satisfy electric power demands of modernized cities and has wide potential applications. From social development and requirement, it is imperative to develop this new kind of dry power transformer.Based on a large number of research literatures which have been published in domestic and aboard on cable winding transformer, the structure and properties of cable winding transformer are analyzed systematacially. And the mathematical models on the basis of image method are made and the procedure of computing leakage magnetic field by FORTRAN is compiled. Through analyzing parameters of leakage magnetic field on different nodes in field domain of the core window, the relationship between vector magnetic potential, magnetic induction's radial component and axial component and parity of image current is illustrated clearly using lots of figures. So, the leakage magnetic field of higher accuracy is attained making use of few image currents to be equivalent to magnetizing current on the borders.According to computational solution of leakage magnetic field, procedures of computing leakage reactance and short circuit electromagnetic forces are also edited based on the electromagnetic field numerical analysis theory such as coordinate transformation and gauss integral.
