Phase change material (PCM) can charge or discharge high latent heat while its temperature keeps unchanged during phase change. By using PCM in building envelope components, a lot of natural energy example for solar energy can be effectively applied. How to use the PCM building components efficiently for energy-saving and money-saving building, the principles,condition and the practical effects of the applying PCM are all very important for academic. In the paper, the following work was accomplished by theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and experiments:This paper analysis the weather character in Beijing, solar irradiance in south wall of buildings and inner surface temperature of south windows and wall in winter has been calculated hourly. With the winter solar irradiance character, calculating the hourly heat load. The result displays that in the saving-energy building, the solar energy entering the room is far bigger than the heat load of the room. During the building design, should think about how to use the charge character of the PCM wallboard to utilize effectively this solar to reduce heating energy in the winter.The thermal storage and heat transfer of PCM wallboards were studied, the'decrement factor'and'time lag, which are used to evaluate the material with constant thermo physical properties, can't be used to evaluate the PCM wallboards, because the melting or freezing of PCM can charge or discharge high latent heat during a narrow temperature range, which causes different temperature distribution in the walls and different surface heat flow into the indoor environment. From the experiment, demonstrating the former theoretical analysis, and analysis the effect factors about the PCM wallboards absorbing heat.On base of the former theoretical analysis, from the numerical simulation, analysis the thermal comfort of south room in the dwelling building, after using the PCM in the wallboards.
