It is necessary to measure the elasticity parameter of all kinds of elastic parts in industrial production. The primary parameter related to elasticity is stiffness. So we can estimate the technical performance by stiffness value. The stiffness of elastic parts in equipment or instrument can influence its precision, even its performance. For a car, the stiffness of its armor plate can affect its quality and safety. Therefore, it is necessary and important to study how to measure the stiffness of large parts.In this paper, a creative precise and carry-home stiffness testing system is designed for measuring stiffness of large sheet metal. This system overcomes difficulties such as instability, being hard to test displacement. Except for the mechanism, this system uses a torsion sensor with high accuracy, a suit of step motor s and a PC with the given software to get an ideal effect in practical test. In this system computer controls the step motor through PLC. In experiment output signals of sensor are amplified and processed, then entered into computer. All the data are analyzed and processed, and makes to curve. From this we get the stiffness value of testing part.Delphi is the main tool in system programming. It uses the object-oriented technology to perform the compilation of the system interface and each function modules, which include data acquisition, series correspondence, data analyzing and data process. The function of the soft is strong, which can generate stiffness measurement curve in real time and perform the data memory and print. Besides it has friendly interface and high intelligence.The main advantages of the design are summarized as follows: volume of the system is small. It can be taken to other place to measure the stiffness of testing part. The computer controls the step motor through PLC, which is stable and reliable. It adopts least square method to perform curve fitting and has high precision. In addition, it makes use of multiplatform to simplify the program design. Moreover, the man-machine interface is clear and the manipulation is simple.
