With the development of automotive industry, electronic manufacturing is in its golden period. As a very important part of the ignition system, ignition coil gives great impact to the performance of motorcars.China is going to be the global making center of ignition coil, produces over ten million products per year. At the same time, the ignition coil testing system which is made by our country is lack of automatic ability and intelligent ability. To develop a modern ignition coil testing system is just in need.This paper develops the RUV4 automobile ignition coil testing system, which is used to test the 26 dynamic parameters of ignition coil automatically. This testing system has many merits, such as to test one ignition coil in 30 seconds, to store the testing results and do SPC statistic on it, to record the waveform of failure parameter and call it anytime which helps to improve the processing technique, to work well in the industrial environment with high compatibility of electromagnetic interference.This testing system is designed according to the Germany Standard, to test many dynamic parameters in the moment of ignition time. Such as the primary coil current, secondary coil current, high voltage and time signal. Because some of the parameters here is high frequency and over 40kV, the hardware of this system should be with high quality and reliability.This testing system is based on the PXI bus virtual testing system. There are many secondary types of equipments in the system. Such as the programmable power supply, high voltage probe, high voltage relay, high voltage load and pneumatics.In this paper, the RUV4 ignition coil testing system has been designed and debugged successfully. The experiment shows that it works well in the laboratory environment, with the ability to test the 26 dynamic parameters automatically. The testing results prove the system's high precision is satisfactory.
