According to the actual structure of 185/70R14C half steel radial passenger tire, by means of MSC.MARC code, comprehensively thought of nonlinear rubber constitutive equations, geometric non-linearity and the anisotropy of cord-rubber composite, axisymmetric FEA and three-dimensional FEA models of tire were built in Mentat.On the basis of the actual usage of tire, we simulated the procedure of inflation. So, we could get the deformed configurations of this procedure, and also calculate the sectional width B' and diameter D' of tire under inflation. The stress/strain fields of tire were given, so we could learn about the status undergoing force of every part in this tire.The tire contacting with road and steady state rolling of tire were simulated. Herein, the evaluation of stresses and the contacting status on belts and carcasses of tire were analyzed.Based on the three-dimensional FEA models of tire, by means of changing the slip angle of tire, the lateral property of tire was analyzed at different slip angles. The results show good agreement with the experimental data, which proved that the FE model in analyzing the cornering tires is correct and reliable.The analysis of the interaction mechanical properties between lire and drums is studied under steady state rolling status. By means of changing the radius of drums, the influence of drums' radius on tire mechanical properties, such as footprint, area of touching, contact normal force of tire, is evaluated. The results show that when the radius is more than three meters, the influence of drum's radius to the tire can be ignored.Moreover, the interaction between tire and soft ground was simulated.
