The consolidation settlement curve obtained by Gaomujunjie Method criterion based on Terzaghi consolidation theory is comparatively different from measured in site, mainly because the basic hypothesis of Terzaghi consolidation theory is not identical with the soft soil deformation character. Indeed, considering all kinds of influencing factors, it's more conforming to fact to calculate soil consolidation with the large strain theory. But all-pervading application is knotty since the complexity of the theory and difficulty of parameter selecting. The characters of soil change great while being pressed densely, especially the coefficient of consolidation cannot be ignored. So the study of the finite difference result in consolidation equation with variable coefficient of consolidation is practical significant. The main work includes(1) Based on Terzaghi consolidation theory, the corresponding finite difference with variable coefficient of consolidation is obtained and the program is written in Matlab.(2) The changing rule of coefficient of consolidation is analyzed through indoor experiment results and project statistic in Shenzhen Bay.(3) Applying bounds of the Terzaghi consolidation theory and difference method are explained by contrasting the consolidation settlement curves of three numerical solutions respectively in Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Foshan.(4) The compression quantum of soil is changed to get a series of curves inasmuch as the strain consolidation and stress consolidation are not one and the same. When the compression quantum is little, replacement of each other is accepted.
