Wavelet analysis is a new mathematic method which has developed rapidly in recent years. It is regarded as a breakthrough of Fourier Analysis. Signal analysis is a key technique for bridge health monitoring. By using wavelet transform, the monitoring signals of bridge structural health monitoring are described on different scales. By simply processing the monitoring date in bridge health monitoring system, we can obtain the features of bridge structure. This approach that is based on the assumption that rubbing produces features in a monitoring signal which result in very large wavelet coefficients at a certain level can detect the presence and occurrence of damage. Additionally, there are no times-lagging when analysis in time signals in bridge health monitoring. So it is very suit for the bridge health monitoring.Wavelet analysis has been employed to numerous problems that belong to the general field of bridge structural health monitoring in recent years. Nevertheless, most approaches that detect structural damage with wavelet analysis are still on a numerical level, further research is requires to develop engineering tools that can be utilized for a standardized assessment and health monitoring of bridge. So, the scope of this article is to give a tactic of wavelet-based applications in bridge structural health monitoring and damage detection by means of dynamic structural tests. Analysis monitoring signal with muti-resolution analysis, dispelling signal noise with wavelet transform, obtain wavelet-based damage indicators and detect the presence and occurrence of damage, realize the on-line alarming in bridge structural health monitoring.
