Abstracting underwater target feature is the foundation of recognizing underwater target. As an important gist of recognizing target, the development of it can improve the ability of countermine. It is important to the field of under weapon mine and countermine. In this paper, it is studied to the basic methods of abstract underwater target feature. Meanwhile, it is emphasized to the methods of abstract underwater target feature based on azimuth tendency. The main works are as follows:1. Studied on the methods and theories of signal processing in process of recognizing underwater target. And studied on the basic methods of abstract underwater target feature which commonly be used. It came to be the theory's base for simulation work latter.2. Established the mathematical model of target echo signal. Analysis structure of submarine and echo modal. Simulate echo signal and noise signal which received by array. Then established the submarine echo mathematical model and the simulation of target simulator which based on highlight structure.3. Researched on method of abstract underwater target feature based on azimuth tendency. Then simulated this method to estimate the dimension trending of target. Combined with MUSIC arithmetic, to achieved recognizing target exactly. Discuss the result at last.
