The Single Observer Passive Location and Tracking System (SOPLAT), which uses electromagnetic wave emitted by target, has proved its merits of self-hiding and far-distance detecting in modern electronic warfare and information warfar. Quite a few of new methods of SOPLAT have been proposed in the last decade, most of these methods add new measurements values to the Bearing-only method base on the particle kinematics. This paper studies the challenge technology of SOPLAT method using frequency rate, including frequency and frequency rate estimation. The theory of SOPLAT using frequency rate is discussed in chapter 2. Based on this theory, this chapter studies the observed discrete-time signal. The CRLB of continuous wave and coherent pulses frequency estimation are also studied.A fast and accurate algorithm to estimate the frequency of a coherent pulse sinusoid is presented in chapter 3. It is based on the autocorrelation iterative method, and the simulation results show that for the lower SNR, this algorithm can accord with the request of the SOPLAT's precision and less computational complexity. Therefore, it's a promising algorithm for practical application. Based on the method, exploiting the coherent property of pulse train, the accurate estimation of signals is obtained. The chapter 4 considers the problem of parameters estimation of Chirp signals by using the Bayesian methodology. By combining the chirpogram and the mean likelihood estimation with Mrkov Chain Monte Carlo technique, it is shown that accurate estimates can be obtained for Chirp signals. Simulation results demonstrate that the parameter estimates are in agreement the CRLBs in the lower SNRs.The last section sums up the contant of the thesis and point out the questions which should be resolved in the future.
