RP (Rapid Prototyping) is a new processing technology developed since 80s last century and collected many kinds of advanced technical. In the RP technology, scanning path generation has the very tremendous influence to the prototype precision, the surface quality, internal performance and the processing speed. This dissertation has a deep study on the scanning path generation and carries on the optimization to the scanning parameter on FDM technics.The present paper studies two aspects: scanning path generation and scanning path parameter optimization. In the generation way, this paper has analyzed the scanning path generation way, adopted the compound scanning algorithm and proposed two kinds scanning path generation algorithm that can have a higher precision: subarea and offset scanning, the concave polygon convex decomposition algorithm for rapid prototyping subarea scanning. In the parameter optimization, the main process parameters influencing FDM prototype quality and the specific direction of parameter optimization are determined, this paper also has proposed the best computational method of compensation and scanning space, moreover implement it in the scanning path generation system.Then the paper gives the general design for the scanning path generation system, and implements it taking VC++6.0 and OpenGL as the development kit. The system includes reading CLI file, building the scanning path and saving the CLI file having the filling information. In this dissertation, two research results have been synthesized in scanning path generation. It implements compound scanning way and subarea and offset scanning way, moreover sets the optimized parameter.
