Railway station is the window for railway traffic, while the station yard, the main technical device of railway station, takes the responsibility for centralizing and decentralizing passengers and freights. With the maturity of geographic information systems (GIS) technology and the proposal of the "digital railway" concept, how to manage the traveling equipments to ensure traffic safety and improve the traffic automation level has become one of the objectives of building RGIS. So the railway station GIS emerges as the time requires.This thesis mainly researches the related methods and realizing technology about the information management for railway station equipments based on the GIS technology and database technology. The objective of the system is to construct a railway station GIS platform, and display the electronic station map correctly and intuitionistic using the visual GIS. On one hand, the system can manage data about railway line programming, designing, and maintaining and so on., and on the other hand, it also can ensure the user to obtain the latest data in time, providing decision-making data information for the management and maintenance of the station equipment and traveling command. This system can enhance the management of railway data information, shorten the cycle of railway traveling organizing and equipments management.This thesis is organized as follows:Chapter one introduces the current research situation about the using of GIS in railway station equipments management both in China and abroad, and put forward the significance of this thesis. Chapter two introduces related GIS technology and the essential factors about railway station yard. Chapter three analyses the demand of the system from the software engineering perspective, including specialty demand, system design demand, data collection demand, and database demand and so on. Chapter four illustrates system design, analyzing system objective and functions, designing the overall plan, database structure, information issue pattern and the system safe mode. Chapter five elaborates the realization of partial system functions, giving the detailednarration about the key question in system—path search algorithm and realization. The last chapter summarizes the whole text, and the work done and the improvement needed are pointed out.
