The traditional methods to remove dissolved oxygen in water have their disadvantages. The experiment of catalytic hydrogenation removing dissolved oxygen in water with Pd resin was studied in this article. Hydrogen catalytic deoxidization technique was a new method to remove oxygen, palladium-catalyst resin was used to make hydrogen and oxygen generate water, and remove the dissolved oxygen under normal temperature and normal pressure. As chemical is not used, and the product of the reaction is water, which will not increase the salinity, this method is energy saving and environmental protect.The characteristic feature of palladium-catalyst and its preparation and application were described in details. The mechanism of hydrogen catalytic deoxidization is also analyzed. The effects of various factors such as flow rate, pressure, temperatures, pH and run ways were studied and application parameters were ascertain. The main contents and conclusions are as follows:(1) The influence of adding hydrogen on the effect of oxygen removal is studied. The lower DO in effluent is, the more consumed hydrogen to remove unit mass DO is. When the DO of effluent is above 0.5 mg/L, the mass of consumed hydrogen to remove unit mass DO is near to that of theoretical mass. When DO in effluent decrease to below 0.01 mg/L, consumed hydrogen increases about 20%.(2) The influence of hydrogen pressure on oxygen removal is studied. In practical projects, it is all right so long as hydrogen pressure is equivalent to hydraulic pressure in the inlet of the reactor.(3) Run velocity on oxygen removal is studied. The oxygen removal reactor needs to keep a certain velocity to run, the optimal run filter velocity is 20-60 m/h. The hydraulic retention time should not less than 1 min.(4) The temperature and pH of water on oxygen removal is studied. When pH is 5-10, and temperature is 6.6~29.2°C, the effect of oxygen removal will not be influenced.(5) The run ways of oxygen removal reactor on oxygen removal is studied. Oxygen removal effect of the reactor in upflow way is better than that in downflow.
