To guarantee quality of the driving taper assembly the automobile, the preload stiffness should be restricted into prescriptive scope. As an economical method, this assembly requirement is realized by adjusting the thickness of gaskets, because the thickness of gaskets has a great effect on the distribution of axial load of the taper roller bearing. This paper mainly elaborates a novel preselection machine of gaskets which is equipped on the assembly line of the main gear reducer of automobile' s driving axle. This computer-controlled machine can measure the clearance along axes and select suitable.gasket so that the clearance along axes of main gear axis can be eliminated and the pre-determined tightening moment can be achieved. Thus the production efficiency and the quality of products can be improved greatly. Then detailed analysis and calculation are carried out for the pre-tightening force of the bearings, and the principle of determining the pre-tightening force of the bearings is also put forward. Meanwhile, the theory basis for selecting gasket is analysed. In establishing of dynamic gasket-selecting measuring model, the system's flexibility has been fully considered. Because the simplified measuring model is distinguished from the true assembly's situation, analysing and compensatings are given in the measuring model.Considering the different lubricative situation and other uncertain factors in the measurment, the measuring model is improved in order to get the better measure precision. Also detailed exposition and analysis for the main structure of system, measuring principle and measuring process are present in the paper.
