With the ripeness of WAMS platform in engineering application, it is possible torealize the wide-area damping control based on WAMS. But the problem is that timelagexists in actual development. The paper discusses the reason of timelag and its influence on the performance ofwide-area damping controller. It introduces the time series model and timelag offsetalgorithm based on it, including the choice of model, algorithm on-line for parametersestimation, adaptive prediction based on minimum square error principle, and discussesthe improved algorithm for multistep prediction and the integrated model comprised byGray model and AR model for improving accuracy. By the MATLAB simulation experiment on the data from Southward Network onthe spot, the various results are obtained. Through the comparative research, the idealtimelag offset algorithm and its effect are presented in this paper.
